Well hey there! So much news peeps! After NINE years of being girlfriend and boyfriend I am so super chuffed to announce that Gary asked me to marry his handsome self last weekend! YAY! It's so cool to finally be able to call handsome my fiance! and le bling bling (Captain Sparrkels, as I like to call her) is so pretty I can't stop staring at her! Will that ever stop?

I am also on this most serious diet and have lost a total of 8.65kg's in the past 4 weeks bitches! Sweet Potato! that's insane, right? Plus I was top looser for last month so I am the weeener too! For those of you who wanna loose this diet works, for reals! Expensive but that keeps you motivated to stick to it. Go here for more info!

The fruits of my and Garelles (that's Gary's new nickname) labour. We finally got it on our third attempt. Yay!!! In celebration of our lil sisters bday! It was delicious and everyone was totally wowed out of their pants when we sliced it up. Nice!

P.S. have y'all seen Jane Eyre? Flippen Schaboodle! If you're one who loves a good old period love story this bad boy is for you! I even sang a little song and did a little dance when it finished that's how happy it made me.

September 18th, 1994 - August 18th, 2011

Yesterday this amazing sunset welcomed our beloved Jethro into the heavens. I was 10 years old when my dad bought him home. I am a farm girl and have had many, many dogs but never one as outstanding as Jethro. He taught little Jack everything he knows about steeling balls and hiding under cars where he's unreachable. Haha. The tricks of the trade. Jethro is the reason I adore dogs the way I do and he gifted me so many precious memories; driving around in my dad's Nissan One Toner Bakkie (a truck) with him perched on my shoulders sharing an ice-cream on a hot summers day, heading to the dam for a weekend of fun. For some reason he had this rivalry with the pools broom, he would attach it and bite i,t and growl at it, I still don't know what the broom ever did to him but it was fun to watch him try put it in its place. Ridding on the boat and he jumped off just before we beached and we all got such a fright because we thought he had gone under the boat, he was fine in the end but non the less a heart wrenching moment. Jethro ridding on the knee board with my dad, fearless! There were these three dams on the property next door to us, we used to walk the dogs down there and let me tell ya, as soon as Fro Fro saw the glint of the water he would leave a huge dust cloud behind him, there was no stopping him! We would arrive five minutes later and there he would be happy as a piggie in poo, swimming around, panting like it was no bodies business, he would even dive after stones. I will miss his scruffy old hair, his happy bark but most of all his legend soul! A life well lived! Thank you dad for bringing him home and I am so deeply sorry for your loss, I know how much you loved him. Rest in piece lil' guy.

I've been researching prefabricated timber frame homes lately. Dreaming the dream. Not only are they a hell of a lot lighter on the pocket, because of the shortened time & labour factor, but also pretty Eco-friendly compared to brick and concrete houses.

I stumbled upon these German beauties! All that glass. A-Frame. Modern interiors. Exposed trusses. Fantastico!!!

I just wish we could get HUF HAUS here in SA or an equivalent. I've come across a few companies that are getting into it but nothing to this standard of design. Maybe by the time we're ready there will be.

P.S. This isn't their only model, just my personal favorite.

Louise Ebel, the captivating face of Pandora, is busy studying her bachelor’s degree in art history which is not only quite apparent but something I absolutely treasure about her blog. Some snaps of our trip down to Durban to vist me pops over the Easter long weekend.

1. Whenever we drive into Durbs we head straight down to the coast and drive along the beach. We stopped off and Gaz snapped the first picture, a beautiful clear morning.

2. The half dead tree in my dads front garden. We always take photographs of it. Love the vignette the lens gave it.

3. Birdseye Chillies. We harvested a bunch to take home with us, had some finely chopped with garlic and olive oil on our pizza last night. Warmth was welcome, it sure is chillo's up here in Jo'burg.

4. Dad just back from a dive charter. We went out next and Gaz & I got so sea sick...

5. Crayfish on the braai. Divine. Even more so the next morning cold straight out the fridge - who woulda thought.

Always sad to leave but lovely to see my doggies again. We always receive the warmest welcome.

Another long weekend lies ahead of us and we are gonna kick it off tonight at Cool Running dancing our feet off to Desmond & the flippen TuTu's! NICE!

I have a rather morbid obsession with death. Weird but true. Even more so of late thanks to an episode of Taboo about death and how different cultures view and deal with death. We have all lost someone special in our lives and if not we most certainly will. I remember seeing my first dead body. I honestly couldn’t do a thing but stand and stare. Grief, disbelief, fear, relief that she had battled her last battle and it was now over, societies influence; I don’t know how to explain my reaction but I just stood frozen… Staring…

Anyway I came across these amazing portraits on one of my favorite blogs Pandora. I find these images so gorgeously haunting. I just can’t stop staring at them.

What makes it even better was finding out this tidbit of informing information when I Wikipediaed his butt,

The "center piece", if you will, is a good place to get most of your direction from. I started a clock collection and tried to aim for size & design - lots of twirls. I bought the bisked bunnies for a whole fifty rond each - the potter glazed and fired them for me. She also threw the wonky tea cup, which I lovingly painted.

You have all seen the photographs from the bridal shower – the culmination of months of planning and work, fun work! Can you even call it work then? I love making pretty things with my hands - putting on a great CD and just getting lost in what I am doing is pure bliss.

To thank all the guests for coming I did little favors. I had a whole lot in mind when I first started – hair pins with pretty felt flowers, little note books covered in floral fabrics and the list goes on. I don’t actually know how I settled on these little ceramic hearts but I am so glad I did. They are meant to be little Christmas tree ornaments. I thought they fitted the theme of Alice in Wonderland perfectly (the Queen of Hearts) as well as Love – Mel is getting married after all and Christmas is a time for love and family. All ties in beautifully.

I am very lucky to have a mom who is a potter and she did most of the work in making these little beauties but I did help and I learnt a lot.

Happy Monday everyone! I hope y'all had an amazo weekend! I know I sure did, the day finally friggen arrived... The one I had been planning since Craig popped the question back in February. I dunno, maybe you heard me mention something sometime... It was gorgeous to say the least and I am so chuffed I can finally spill the beans. It's been an amazing creative journey which allowed me to loose myself in my own imagination and get utterly carried away. I had Mel in mind the whole time of course and a lot of help - I reckon that's probably why it worked out so figgen well. It suited her everything down her stockings.

Without further delay, here are some gorgeous photographs taken lovingly by my sister from another mister, Chantie Pantie. Yes I really use cheesy lines like that all of the time

We just finished painting our lounge. I feel high. My house looks likes a bomb hit it and I have just discovered a blister on my finger. So worth it. We went with a really light grey as the main colour and a really dark grey for the feature wall. It looks awesome. Summer has finally arrived!!! Can I get a hell-yeah!?

So I totally notice that I literally posted once during the month of September. I am sorry blog but my life is super full at the moment. I started Natural Horsemanship lessons to learn and understand the behaviors of horses. Reckon this is going to be a life altering adventure and will reach far beyond the bond between horse and human. The wedding and bridal shower are just around the corner and that is keeping these fingers so busy! not to mention the 5 bazillion birthdays and Christmas. I am not complaining, there will be many future posts after the shower and wedding are over. I have also started a new venture which I am so super excited about and think this could be the key to my financial and creative freedom. So keep watching.

It was my birthday two weeks ago. This man (he is my brother Kyle) sent me a package from London filled with things only a brother could think of. Simply Wonderful.

My parcel consisted of two postcards (One of King Henry Tudor - I AM obsessed!) for my mom, a tot glass and post card for Gary, She&Him CD, 2 mixed CD's (he sure makes the best ones!!!), a photo frame, the new Studio Ghibli, "Ponyo", an eco pencil set, a book of iron-on-decals, book clips, thigh high stockings with sweet bows, tartan badges, a giant royal blue bow for my hair and frilly socks. Like I said, wonderful!

Last weekend I used my seven days of grace (we have this thing that from your birthday you get seven days of "grace", one day is just not enough) to FINALLY rope the Gary in and make him help me finish spring cleaning the last two rooms in the house. I am so happy to report that 5yrs later, we are officially moved in. Hehe. Now everything has a place and my Virgo is in her element!

So yesterday we went for a hike in the Northern Farm to "Fish Eagle Lake". It was so much fun - well sorta. If you don't count:

1. Gary's food mood (men???)

2. the fact that we choose the time of day that the sun is directly above us (um can you say "Thanks bob for sunscreen"?)

3. And the fact the ticket lady was held up the day before!!! So when the security guard stopped to ask if we were taking photo's I freaked-the-flip-out and I walked back to the car so darn fast that I think I could have broken a speed walking record. Gaz was so sweet he eventually broke into run and went a head to fetch the car. It totally felt like something outta an adventure/horror movie! Totally used my adrenaline just like Bear says you should. hahaha!

blue bottles from the sea

Okay not really and not that kind of blue bottle... they're from the Consol Factory Shop in Woodmead and are literally pretty blue bottles you would expect to find some treasure map inside. Man do I friggen ♥ that shop. These babies cost me a whole thirty six South African Rond! nooo waaayz! YES WAYZ! They make nice blue light in my bedroom.

It is also a recycling depot. Handy? I think so, possibly very dangerous for my purse too! They had the most amazing mini cake domes, which is aaasem! Wine glasses, anything glass cause their Consol right! Go there.

This is me sick, in bed and bored. The worst is over but I am still confined to home rest because it's contagious. The plus side is I feel I can stomach a cup of coffee. mmmm, how I have missed you my dear old friend.

I watched remember me yesterday and thoroughly enjoyed it. Pretty deep. Had a good cry.

Well have a good Friday the thirteen y'all and a flippen aaasems weekend! Which reminds me, I am totally going to a surprise party on Saturday and plan on wearing my new high waisted jeans! Fun times!

This, everybody, is my old girl. Exceptionally intelligent, highly pedigreed and so loyal it makes me crazy at times.

Sweetpea - Princess of the Universe!

I literally walk out the gate, then straight back in, Sweety watching me all the time. On re-entry she will jump a meter in the air with excitement, up and down, and, up and down!

My dad got her for me at the end of std. 9. I had been begging for a puppy of my own for months. So one day my dad and stepmom get home late afternoon. My stepmom comes inside and says that I am in big trouble and my father is waiting in the car for me. I reluctantly make my way to the passenger door and open it. I try sit down and he's all "No. No. No.!!!" I move his jersey, i still remember the colours, and there lies my biggest fan. Tiny and nervous and heartbreakingly gorgeous.

It was curtains for me at that very moment.

She is my oldest dog, my very first and I think the reason I have never written or shared her is because she is an uber personal part of my life - possibly an appendage.

Gaz and I are going on a ride now, now. Very exciting. Have an awesome time, whatever you're up to!!!

It's gonna be a flippen good weekend. Today is Friday for me (have to fetch my passport & my brothers drivers tomorrow) and my dad, whom I have not set eyes on since December, is coming up to JHB for the naweek bitches! (weekend)

She is so dam awesom! Man I wish I could have just the tiniest bit of her awesome! Designer, Illustrator, Fine Art, Typography, you name it this lady does it and is FLIPPEN good - that's the understatement of the century right there. And get this she is only 20! Great things still to come from this little lady!
