ballooooons

Life is too short to wake up with regrets.
Love the people who treat you right.
Forget about the ones who don't.
Believe everything happens for a reason.
If you get a second chance, grab it with both hands.
If it changes your life, let it.
Nobody said life would be easy.
They just promised it would be worth it.

WORD

Today's WORD will be "Fracas".

I came across this word in my latest book, "Head over Heels" by Jill Mansel.
The extract:
"A diversion was created by William, at the bottom of the garden, emptying a bucket of sand over Lottie's head. Lottie screamed and gave him a resounding slap. William, grabbing handfuls of sand, flung them furiously in Lottie's face. Lili went to help Harriet separate them, thankful only that Hugh and Felicity weren't here to witness the fracas."

The online dictionary I use only gave me the history.

Word Origin & History - fracas

1727, from Fr. fracas, from It. fracasso "uproar, crash," from fracassare "to smash, crash, break in pieces," from fra, aphetic of L. infra "below" + It. cassare "to break," from L. quassare "to shake."

So here are some synonyms:
Quarrel, fight, brawl, mêlée, argument, disturbance & scuffle.

I couldn't find a good picture that depicted the word as much as I would have like so I am going to use one of the synonyms, quarrel.

This is the picture I found via Google.

"The Quarrel of Oberon and Titania" c. 1849
Sir Joseph Noel Paton

This was one of the very first images that came up when I typed in quarrel. I am totally infatuated with old England and Europe for that matter. I love the art, history, architecture, clothing, society, ev-ery-thing! So basically I didn't really have a choice.

JoBurg's Burning

What an amazing evening. JoBurg burning, six venues, 31 bands, a free shuttle service to drive the party goers around Melville and 5 of my best friends on planet earth. WOW!

This first pic is of the crammed shuttle bus. A classic JoBurg move - turn a sixteen seater into a thirty seater. I was crammed against the door in a standing position. Some on farted. I gagged aaa-lot. Give me a beating heart in my bare hands but DO NOT give me methane gas, excrement or vomit - sorry no can do.

The second pic is my beautiful Gary sitting chatting to the drummer of Black Pimping Jesus. He went to school with her. Love the drums and mural on the wall in the background.

Me, Chantie of the Pantie & Smellershe Schlaupscher. Pretty Shoes. I love shoeeeez!

Ky, my amazing boetie and the group photo.

Mel in total awe - looks like it anyhoo & the lead singer of Zebra & Giraffe. Awesome photo.

Zebra & Giraffe.

We got to Melville, headed straight to Roxies and had a very quick drink. Onto the shuttle and off to the Bohemian to catch the last of "Black Pimping Jesus". Then shuttled to Back2Basix for "The Black Hotels" and "Zebra & Girraffe". Shuttled off again to catch the end of "Taxi Violence". They were amazing, very energetic. Ky (my gentle bother) was marshing his behind off and fell over. His fellow marshers promptly picked him so he wouldn't get trampled. The sense of community I tell you.

A great night and novel idea! Thank you JoBurg Burning!!!

playing dress up

I was trying to find and amazing outfit for Joburg Burning. The top I am wearing in this pic is actualy a dress. It makes a better top than a dress with the highwaisted skirt, in my opinion.
I didn't end up wearing this out fit because it would have been way to hot. Love the old schoolness of this photograph. The photo below AWESOME - it really reminds me of a Sara Moon. Love it.

Happy Spring Day

Its official, spring has sprung. I snapped this picture of the peach tree blossom yesterday afternoon on the way down to my moms’ house.

Goodbye and good-riddens to you, smelly Mr. Winter. I have been waiting on the edge of my seat for today. I L-O-V-E summer. I can pack away all my coats and boots and whip out the pretty dresses, sandals, way cool sunnies and hats. Not to mention a trip to the coast. YAYNESS!
Lots of spring day love,
